Academic profile

Huang Tianshu, male, born in 1949 in Putian, Fujian Province, studied at the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Shaanxi Normal University from October 1978 to July 1982, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. From September 1982 to July 1985, he pursued a Master of Arts degree in Paleography at the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Shaanxi Normal University under the supervision of Professor Guo Zizhi. From September 1985 to July 1988, he earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Chinese Classical Philology with a focus on Paleography at the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Peking University under the guidance of Professor Qiu Xigui. He previously served as Lecturer, Associate Professor, and Master’s Supervisor at the Department of Chinese Language and Literature of Shaanxi Normal University, and later as Professor, Senior Professor, and Ph.D. Supervisor at the School of Literature, Capital Normal University. Since January 2019, he has been Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor at the Research and Conservation Center for Unearthed Texts and the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Tsinghua University. His primary research fields are Oracle Bone Studies and Bronze Inscriptions Research.
