Academic profile

Liao Mingchun, male, born in 1956 in Wugang, Hunan Province, earned his Master of Arts in Classical Philology from the Institute of Ancient Documents, Wuhan University (September 1985 – July 1987) under the supervision of Professors Zhou Dapu and Zong Fubang, and his Doctor of Philosophy in Ancient Chinese History from the Institute of Ancient Texts, Jilin University (September 1989 – July 1992) under the guidance of Professor Jin Jingfang. He conducted postdoctoral research in the History Postdoctoral Research Program at Northwest University (1995–1997) with Professor Zhang Qizhi as his mentor. He previously served as Lecturer at the Theoretical Research Office of the Hunan Provincial Party School of the CPC and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Huxiang Forum. Since August 1992, he has taught at the Institute of Ideology and Culture and the Department of History, Tsinghua University, holding positions as Associate Professor and Professor. He is currently a Dual-Appointed Professor at the Department of History, School of Humanities, and the Research and Conservation Center for Unearthed Texts, Tsinghua University, as well as a Ph.D. Supervisor. His primary research focuses on Mawangdui Silk Manuscripts, unearthed bamboo and silk documents, and Chinese intellectual history.

His academic roles include Standing Council Member of the International Association for I Ching Studies, Council Member of the International Confucian Association, and President of the Xunzi Research Association, Chinese Society for Pre-Qin History.

Vice President of the International Yijing Association, President of the Xunzi Research Society of the Chinese Pre-Qin Historical Society.
